Established in 2011, Bison Island Ranch is a working Bison Ranch in Upstate New York. The focus is on raising happy, healthy bison to provide a high quality, nutrient dense, grass-finished product using regenerative agricultural practices.
The Ranch was started by Dr. Susan Golembeski, aka “Susie Bison”, as a passion and transition from corporate healthcare. Working with Mother Nature and the bison to be a “steward of the land” has been a labor of love.
With nearly 200 bison and multiple properties just a few years ago, we have downsized the herd, streamlined Ranch operations, and have pivoted to include to agritourism, education, and retail meat sales.
This is a family run business with the help of some neighbors & friends. We are all very proud of each of our individual contributions to the business.
2023-2025 was HUGE for us! We started monthly events like Ranch Days, put up the new Tipi for the first time, and booked our first Bison Safaris (aka Adventure Tours) too!
More recently we came out with our specialty line of Bison Tallow Skin Care products, also launched our Online Store, and are now open for Ranch Store Hours each Saturday!
